Subsea Telecoms Cable Installation and Maintenance Specialists with Unparalleled Experience
Global Marine has been installing telecommunications cables at sea for well over 160 years. Throughout that time we have build our company into the leading independent provider of installation and maintenance services for subsea telecommunications system installation. We have worked for virtually every major telecommunications company on projects have taken us to the far corners the sea and most places in between.
Although most people assume we live in a wireless world, almost all of global telecommunications travels through cables. The need to ensure these systems are installed and maintained properly has never been greater. To address these needs our services break down into two main areas: Installation and maintenance.
Installation: In subsea telecommunications system installation we deliver a turn-key subsea network working directly for the system designers and owners themselves or as part of Huawei Marine Networks our joint venture with Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ITC) solutions provider.
Maintenance: Our fleet of vessels, equipment and experienced personnel maintain the worlds largest service footprint for subsea telecommunications cable maintenance, routinely repairing cables in all of the worlds’ oceans, ensuring the resilience of communications networks across the globe.
Working in the marine environment is possibly the most demanding project environment on earth. Over the decades we have developed innovative engineering answers to some of the most difficult problems the telecommunications industry has faced and installed some of the most complicated projects yet conceived. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and quality project delivery, and look forward to working with you wherever your subsea project will be taking you.
Global Marine Systems has main offices in both the United Kingdom and Singapore with resources throughout Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
BACKGROUNDING AND EDUCATION ON SUBSEA CABLING:
Developers, Regulators, EPC's and interested third parties often have questions about how subsea cables are installed, maintained and the impact these activities have on the seabed and surrounding environment. There is a report published jointly by The United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre and the International Cable Protection Committee that provides an excellent overview of these issues. Although its focus is primarily focused on telecommunications cables, much of the information is directly applicable to power cables as well.
The UNEP-WCMC report "Submarine cables and the oceans: connecting the world" provides a in-depth overview and education on the history, process, surveying, international law, environmental impacts and future of the subsea cable industry. The report also include an industry glossary, including a listing of common acronymns and abbreviations.
It’s been just a few years since Huawei and Global Marine Systems joined forces to create Huawei Marine Networks, but already the company has helped reinvent the subsea cable industry.
